A Surefire Way To Guarantee Back Pain in Pregnancy!

Are High Heels Really That Terrible in Pregnancy?

I reckon I echo most women’s sentiments when I say that one of the worst things about pregnancy is the point where your bump gets too huge for you to comfortably wear your gorgeous collection of high heels, or when your feet swell so much that you can’t get those shoes on anyway, even if you tried!

The business is though, no topic how uncomfortable they can be, sometimes heels are the only way to make an outfit work. When you’ve found that perfect dress for a night out with the girls, your hair is gleaming and your makeup looks incredible, you can just hear those strappy, sexy sandals calling you from the back of the closet.

But hey, if you wear heels out once a week can it really be that terrible for you? Surely not!

Well let me tell you the waterproof and you make up your mind for yourself…

Initially of all you need to know what heels do to the body. When you place on a pair of heels you tip your weight forward so that your centre of gravity shifts. This earnings that you have to adjust your posture or alignment so that you don’t fall flat on your face.

To enable you to balance, your pelvis has to tilt anteriorly which increases the arch in your lower back. This in turn compresses the discs in your lower spine and crushes the nerves leading out from the spinal cord.

Your abs become stretched giving you a protruding belly and your hip flexors shorten.

On the top half your shoulders will round forward to balance out the lower body and your head will migrate forward putting enormous strain on your neck.

Now, consider this. All of the postural problems above are also prevalent in pregnancy. The weight of your bump and boobs will cause the exact same things to happen. Not only that, but because you are pregnant you will also be producing a lot of the hormones relaxin and oestrogen which make ligaments and muscles relax and joints become extremely unstable.

So when you add heels to a pregnant posture you are increasing the hurt to your back, shoulders and neck to the point of overload. And this is when your body tells you enough is enough and gives up. Hence you end up with severe back pain and possibly honest long-term hurt.

So although you may reckon that wearing heels on the odd night out can’t hurt too much, just remember that your body is already stretched to the limit carrying your baby.

Is it really worth it for one night out?

Idet Treatment For Back Pain

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Intradiscal Electrothermic Therapy (IDET) is a relatively new, minimally invasive, procedure developed to treat recurring low back pain due to a spinal disc problem. It may be recommended for people who have had recurring disc related low back pain for at least 3 to 6 months.
It can be used to treat:
• Tiny disc herniations
• Internal Disc Tears
• Mild disc degeneration which is limited to one or two levels

Degeneration of the disc
Experts believe some cases of persistent disc pain may be caused by nerve fibers that have migrated from their normal location in the outer layers of the disc into its interior. The degeneration of the disc with age or injury is characterized by the breakdown of the tough outer layers of the disc, allowing fissures to develop in its walls. Filled with blood vessels and tiny nerves, these fissures can become a source of recurring pain in many patients.

Injury to the disc
If here has been a back injury which compressed the intervertebral disc, causing it to bulge or herniate, material from its crucial point will protrude, stimulating pain sensors within the disc. This material from the nucleus of the disc is irritating and adds to the pain.

Before an IDET procedure is done, a discography should be completed to clearly spot the problem. IDET is not recommended for:
• Severe disc degeneration
• Spinal stenosis
• Spinal instability as with spondylolisthesis

The Discogram is the primary diagnostic tool although an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) may also be done. With a Discogram, a needle is placed in the affected disc and a tiny amount of dye is injected. This provides in rank on the disc structure and pain source. It is very vital that an accurate diagnosis is made and the disc identified as the source of the pain. IDET is not recommended for pain symptoms due to problems with spinal structures, such as nerve roots or spinal joints. It is vital that the disc itself be identified as the primary source of pain.

Before the Surgery (Preoperative)
One week before the surgery, the following should be done:
• Stop taking NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs), aspirin and aspirin compounds.
• Continue taking any prescribed heart, blood pressure or diabetic medications.

• Be sure to alert your physician if you are:
o Taking blood thinners or have a history of a flow of blood disorder
o Allergic to iodine (can’t tolerate shellfish or allergic to IVP dye)
o Having any illness, elevated temperature or sign of infection
• DO NOT eat the day of the procedure.
• Your physician may permit a tiny amount of clear soup, broth or juice. Be sure to question.
• Arrange to have someone drive you home.

The Procedure
• An IV will be ongoing and you will be given a mild sedative.
• You will be positioned on the x-ray table and given a local anesthetic.
• The doctor will insert a hollow needle into the disc. The process will be visualized on fluoroscopy.
• An electrothermal catheter or heating wire is inserted through the needle and positioned in the disc.
• The wire or catheter is slowly heated to about 194° F for about 15 minutes. This heat causes the disc walls to thicken and heal tiny tears as it destroys the nerve endings.
• An antibiotic may be given IV or directly into the disc to prevent any infection.
• The needle will be removed and a dressing applied to your back.
• You will be observed in a recovery area until you are ready to go home.

With Surgery
• Pain may be more noticeable with the procedure, lasting 2 or 3 days.
• Physical therapy will be prescribed.
• Restrict bending and lifting during recovery and avoid sitting for long periods of time.
• A lumbar support may be prescribed for up to 8 weeks.
• Walking and simple stretches are recommended.
• Activities such as swimming, running or tennis should not be resumed for at least 6 months.

This is the least invasive type of spinal procedure. Complications are rare but possible risks include:
• Weakening of spine
• Disc infection
• Nerve hurt
• Disc hurt

Pain may wait for up to 3 months with the procedure. Here have been no large long term studies to evaluate the effectiveness of IDET.

Soft Laser Low Level Therapy Chronic Fatigue, Migraines, Back Pain, Joint Pain, Tendonitis, Neck

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

It may sound just too incredible but here is now a single solution to a myriad of common yet often irritating problems including recurring fatigue, migraines, back pain, joint pain, tendinitis, neck pain, and a series of related health problems. Yes, soft laser therapy or low level laser therapy can be the best possible option for you in case you have been suffering from these problems. As said, it offers incredible solution to a host of injuries and is a potent agent for pain relief.

We all realize it well that the best remedy for any health problem is the one where our physiological logic itself takes to healing the problem in a untreated way. Soft laser therapy does exactly that by encouraging the body to heal the injuries on its own. Application of this therapy increases the serotonin level in the body.

It is a really non-thermal as well as non-invasive mode of therapy. This therapy is really a derivative of phototherapy. Phototherapy makes certain kinds of light waves to enter one,s body and stimulate untreated healing of the injuries and problems within. The red region on color spectrum is the cold part. The soft laser therapy really uses compressed light beams of similar wavelength as the red region and hence is also known as cold laser therapy.

As the soft laser therapy is under process, here is an exposure of the body cells to photon energy. Therefore, here is an increase in the metabolism rate of the cells that

Enhances blood circulation;

Stimulates the renovate of tissues;

Quick develops collagen and the muscle tissues;

Heals the injuries;

Makes much loved stimulation through the entire immune logic as well as the nervous logic.

Besides, soft laser therapy is also a proven agent used for acupuncture treatments without the pricking of needles at the acupoints.

Here are various kinds of soft laser therapies such as the Q10 Laser, Q1000 Propack, 660 Probe, Q1000 Laser, 808 Probe, and so on. Each of them has their unique potential and specialize in particular forms of health related problems.

One of the best things about the soft laser therapy is that it can also be implemented at one’s home. Here are some kinds of laser devices whose operating needs a excellent bit of training while some are quite unadorned and simple to use. As this logic provides a untreated way to heal the injuries, the popularity of soft laser therapy is increasing with the turn of each single day.
