How is it possible for your bones to hurt, i.e., with arthritis?

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I thought that only areas with nerve cells could be besieged by pain? Do bones have nerves? I guess I just don’t know my malady very well. If Arthritis is a disease of the bones (say, instead of muscles), why does it hurt so much? I am on a protocol of several medications but the pain is increasing. What to do? I am 58 and “enjoyably stout”; I lead a sedentary life due to the pain and 4 herniated disks in my neck and lower back with pinched nerves and spinal stenosis. Yeah, I’m a mess but I refuse to let this get the best of me. Explanations & suggestions salutation.
Addendum: My legs go numb with standing about 5 minutes or walking about 100 feet……in the last three months, the numbness occurs even when I’m sitting or insincere down. Six years ago only the front of my left thigh suffered this sensation but now it’s traveled down to the side of my calf and up to my hip and now my right leg is experiencing the same business. One more business, I do have PVD and blockages in my right leg. I’m in pain constantly and have been for years.
